After the Pune Porsche case made waves, Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur police have sprung into action. A juvenile had tragically run over two children last October, leading to their immediate demise. Although an investigation took place, the minor was released following a settlement. It was only after another crash last month, where he ran over four individuals, that he was finally apprehended.
It is alleged that due to the 15-year-old boy's reckless driving, two children died last year, but no actions were taken against him. Following his detainment on Wednesday, he was sent to a juvenile home. Both the accident incidents were reported, and FIRs were lodged, but the arrest of the accused wasn't made until Wednesday.
Following Pune's hit-and-run case capturing headlines, Kanpur police mobilized and arrested the juvenile. It is reported that cases against his father, a leading doctor in Kanpur, have also been registered in connection to both accidents.
The initial accident occurred last October when the juvenile, driving along with three other minors, crashed into a Maggi noodle shop, resulting in the death of two children, Sagar Nishad and Ashish Ram Charan. Under IPC section 304A, a case was filed against the accused.
Months later, on March 31, 2024, the accused again injured four people while driving, leading to serious injuries. In this case, IPC sections 279 and 338 were invoked, yet there were no subsequent arrests.
