In an astonishing case from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a bride's deceitful acts have left everyone stunned. Initially, she convinced an engineer to marry her by faking her orphan status. Later, she absconded with a substantial amount of cash and precious jewels from the household. The betrayed has since sought justice from the police after discovering she was already married with three children.
In the precincts of Kanpur's Bazariya, engineer Sanu Sonkar filed an FIR against his wife. He accuses his wife Shreya, also known as Preeti Dubey, of marrying him under the guise of being an orphan and then gradually orchestrating large money transfers from his account to her relatives. After transferring lakhs of rupees, she also fled with jewels and cash.
Victim Sanu Sonkar recounted that he met Shreya in 2019 while she was selling door-to-door products and claimed to be an orphan. Their conversations gradually led to romance, and he proposed marriage. No one from Shreya's family was present at the wedding, upholding her orphan narrative. However, after marriage, Shreya slowly siphoned off 7.5 lakhs from my account, transferring it to her mother and acquaintances. When I confronted her, she became violent, and domestic strife ensued.
Sanu further revealed that in 2023, Shreya vanished with the home's cash and jewelry. After extensive searching, he discovered she was residing in Kanpur's Kalyanpur area. Upon reaching her house, Shreya and her associates insulted and chased him away.
FIR filed at Bazariya Police Station
Sanu Sonkar has now lodged an FIR at the Bazariya police station against Shreya and eight individuals. It was reported that Shreya, originally from Kannauj, was already married with three children.
Meanwhile, Shreya has filed her own complaint at the Tirwa police station in Kannauj against her husband Sanu and his family for dowry harassment and molestation. Her report dates back to September 26, 2023, where she accused Sanu of concealing his caste for marriage and taking all her money.
Joint Police Commissioner Harishchandra stated that the charges include fraudulent marriage and elopement with money. A lawsuit has been filed, and an investigation is ordered.
