In Kanpur, UP, a drunken police officer crashed his car into a scooter ridden by a minor boy. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and took the officer to the station. Meanwhile, a senior officer appeared and, under the pretense of arranging a settlement, fled with the accused. Meanwhile, the victim waited in the hospital.
Ikram, aged 16, works at a shop. On Tuesday night, while returning home, a speeding car hit his scooter. The officer tried to flee, but couldn't. Soon, people gathered around.
The victim's family was called, and also the police by dialing 112. The police arrived at the scene and took the accused officer to the station. Later, the victim’s family also arrived there.
Meanwhile, the police suggested a settlement else they would have to file a case. At that moment, a senior officer from Unnao, in uniform, arrived at the station and fled with the accused under the guise of arranging a settlement.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, the victim’s family waited. The minor boy was admitted to Leela Mani Hospital. According to his family, three of his bones are broken.
Eventually, a case was filed against the accused officer at the Cantt police station following the complaint from the victim's family. ACP Cantt Anjali Vishwakarma stated that the accused officer's name is Manoj Singh Gangwar, and he is posted at a station in Unnao. Currently, a case has been registered under relevant sections and necessary legal proceedings are underway.
However, questions arise on the police's conduct during the incident. Why wasn’t a medical examination performed if the officer was drunk? How did a senior officer from another station take the accused away? Kanpur police have yet to answer these questions.
