A chilling case from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, exemplifies this harsh reality. A boxing coach, intruding upon a fellow female badminton coach at her flat, audaciously began making inappropriate requests. Astonishingly, when confronted, he opted to cause a commotion outside her flat.
In Kanpur's Nazirabad, a female badminton coach resides within a flat while training young women at a nearby sports club. This club also employs Abdul Karim, a boxing coach. On November 17, Karim approached the woman with a request for 'a personal talk,' leading to her ungeminated him access to her apartment. Given their professional acquaintance, she permitted his entry. Once inside, he expressed distressing words, mentioning, 'I have been physically troubled for a month, I need sex and you can fulfill this for me. I'm facing significant hardship.'
The woman recounted her shock upon hearing this bizarre request. She immediately forced him out, dismissing his behavior as deplorable. Even as he continued his lewd remarks outside, her cries attracted the attention of neighbors who stepped in.
A native of Banaras, the woman shared, 'I immediately contacted the club manager who arrived promptly. He slapped Karim and expelled him from my flat. However, Karim resorted to harassing me further by sending lewd messages to my phone. Fearing for my safety, I sought help from the police.'
Aman Singh, the Nazirabad police station in-charge, confirmed the arrest of Abdul Karim based on the complaint filed by the female coach. Her statement under Section 164 will be recorded to ensure justice is served.
