Himachal's Mandi Lok Sabha representative and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut recently made a controversial statement regarding the farmers' protest in an interview. Following her comments, the opposition party strongly criticized the BJP and demanded legal action against her. As the controversy welled up, the BJP issued an official statement expressing disapproval of Kangana's remarks and instructed her to refrain from making such statements in the future.
In her interview, Kangana Ranaut claimed that if the leadership was not robust, Punjab could have been turned into another Bangladesh during the farmers' protest. This statement has drawn continuous attacks from the opposition. The Congress party has demanded action under NSA against Kangana. The BJP, distancing itself from her statement, clarified that it was her personal opinion and not the party's stance.

What Kangana Ranaut Said About the Farmers' Protest
During a media interview, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said that if our leadership was weak, India could have faced a situation similar to Bangladesh. The events of the farmers' protest were witnessed by everyone. Under the guise of protests, violence was incited. There were incidents of rapes and people being lynched. Kangana justified the central government's decision to retract the farm laws, stating that the rioters were stunned when the bills were reversed because their plan was for an extended conflict.
Congress Raised Concerns
The opposition parties targeted Kangana for her statement. Punjab's Congress leader and former minister Raj Kumar Verka called for an FIR against Kangana and urged actions under the NSA. He appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, stating that Kangana had defamed Punjab and its farmers. Consequently, he suggested that she should be sent to Dibrugarh Jail. Verka noted that Kangana recurrently questions Punjab's leaders and farmers and called for action against her.
