Former AAP member Kailash Gahlot has officially joined the BJP today at their headquarters.

Gahlot took BJP membership in the presence of BJP leaders Manohar Lal Khattar, Dushyant Gautam, and Harsh Malhotra. Joining the BJP, Gahlot expressed that leaving AAP was not an easy decision and it wasn't made overnight.

Gahlot addressed the rumors suggesting he switched parties due to pressure and stated that this is false. He emphasized that he has never acted under pressure throughout his political career since 2015. Such misconceptions are completely untrue.

Gahlot further clarified that the narrative of him leaving AAP due to ED or CBI pressure is incorrect. As a lawyer by profession, he left his legal practice to join AAP because he saw hope in one person and one party. His sole aim was to serve the people.

Timeline:

Kailash Gahlot resigned from AAP's primary membership the day before. AAP convenor commented on his move to BJP, stating it's Gahlot's choice where he wishes to go.

Gahlot had written a letter to AAP's Arvind Kejriwal highlighting issues like the luxurious bungalow controversy that cast doubt on their commitment to commoner ideals. It's evident now, he argued, that if the Delhi government spends most of its time clashing with the central government, true progress for Delhi is unachievable. Thus, he had no choice but to part ways with AAP's primary membership.

It's significant to note that Gahlot accused AAP of abandoning the fight for people's rights and pursuing a political agenda, which hindered the basic service delivery to Delhi residents. He commenced his political journey with a dedication to serving Delhi's people and wishes to continue doing so, which led to resigning from his AAP position.

On a related note, Najafgarh MLA Gahlot resigned from the council of ministers on Sunday with immediate effect. He was responsible for the Home, Administrative Reforms, IT, and Women and Child Development departments. This development unfolded just ahead of the Delhi assembly elections set for February.
