Since Saturday morning, two separate encounters have erupted between the army and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. While security forces neutralized two militants in Anantnag, they also eliminated one terrorist in Khanyar, Srinagar. However, 1 to 2 terrorists were still reported to be hiding. A significant explosion was triggered in the house where the terrorists were concealed, setting it ablaze. Intense smoke clouds are visible in the area. Several soldiers, including 2 CRPF and 2 police personnel, have been wounded during the operation and have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
It was gathered that information had surfaced regarding the presence of Lashkar terrorists hiding in Khanyar. Reportedly, a senior Lashkar commander was among them, planning a major attack. Subsequently, security personnel encircled the area, awaiting the terrorists' emergence, but they responded with continuous firing, injuring four officers.
This operation reportedly employed chemicals to drive the sheltered terrorists out by igniting a portion of the house, intending to force them out due to smoke and fire, enabling capture and the culmination of an extended encounter.
Earlier, intermittent firing was ongoing in Khanyar. A video emerged showing security forces closing in on terrorist hideouts. Explosive firing and sounds could be heard. Reports stated that security forces surrounded 2 to 3 Lashkar terrorists, including a top non-local commander. Joint operations of police and CRPF continue.

Another Khanyar video showed terrorists hiding inside a house and engaging in continuous firing. Security forces have completely surrounded them, ensuring no mistakes are made in their capture. The security forces are waiting for terrorists to run out of ammunition.
In recent times, Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed a spike in terrorist activities. Just a day prior, there was an encounter with terrorists in Bandipora district. Often, terrorists attempt infiltration, resulting in face-offs with the army.
On 28th October, there was a clash in Akhnoor sector where India's brave canine 'Phantom' sacrificed its life. Terrorists opened fire on an army convoy. While Indian soldiers cornered the terrorists, Phantom was hit by a bullet from them, but three terrorists were neutralized, and weapons recovered.
Farooq Abdullah Raises Concern Over Attacks
Notably, within 24 hours, three terrorist attacks occurred in Jammu and Kashmir: firing incidents on Friday in Budgam and Bandipora, and another in Srinagar today. National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah perceives these rising attacks as a conspiracy.
Speaking to the media, he mentioned the intent behind attacks as creating a crisis. The attackers should be apprehended to uncover those orchestrating these acts. He emphasized capturing them and questioning about the forces instigating such events. Why are these incidents occurring now, and why did them stop before?
Mentioning the terrorist attack on laborers in Budgam, Abdullah insisted on investigating the governance leading to these happenings. He speculated whether these events are attempts by certain factions to destabilize the government. Earlier, such incidents subsided; why are they reemerging now...? These actions attempt to create instability in Kashmir, possibly hinting at agencies trying to undermine Omar Abdullah’s government.
Several Recent Attacks
This is not the first occurrence of attacks targeting non-Kashmiris in Jammu and Kashmir. Previously, non-Kashmiri civilians were targeted multiple times by terrorists. Recently, a person was reported injured in gunfire at Batagund Tral and hospitalized. This marked the third such instance recently. Including today’s event, there have been four such incidents where non-Kashmiris were primarily targeted by terrorists.
