Following in Delhi's footsteps, Jaipur Metro passengers will now have access to last-mile transportation services, ensuring safe travel from the metro to their homes. Long waits for buses or cabs outside stations are a thing of the past, as is any strain on their wallets. To encourage more people to use the metro, Livelihood E-Mobility India Private Limited, an EV startup based at MNIT's MIIC, has signed an MoU with Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC). E-rickshaw and e-auto services will begin in Jaipur starting July 15.
In the first phase, services will start from Manasasarovar, New Atish Market, Vivek Vihar, Ram Nagar, and Railway Station among the 11 Jaipur stations. The remaining six stations will be included later. Services will be made available within a minimum of 1 km and a maximum of 5 km range. Jaipur Metro's objective is to encourage more and more people to travel by metro. Notably, a similar facility was initiated in Kanpur, Agra, and Lucknow after signing an MoU with Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation about two months ago.
Affordable E-Rickshaw and Auto Services Outside Jaipur Metro Stations
Startup founder Akhilesh Saxena elaborates that e-rickshaws are not yet part of any cab service. This step will benefit drivers in this unorganized sector by providing them with employment opportunities. Our priority remains passenger safety. We will verify drivers’ licenses, vehicle numbers, insurance, and conduct police verification of drivers. Over 250 drivers have already registered on this platform. Continuous announcements about the facilities will be made inside the metro. This service will be operational from 6 AM to 10 PM.
Passengers can book services via Ajigo Mobile App.
The minimum fare for e-rickshaws and three-wheelers will be 15 rupees per kilometer.
Passengers won't have to wait for public transport late at night, relieving them from expensive cab fares.
For security measures, the company will perform live tracking of all passengers and drivers.
Passengers can share their live location with family and friends.
Two people can travel for 5 km in a sharing service for 17 rupees.
