The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Tuesday their successful strike on Ali Shadmani, recently appointed as the Chief of Staff of Iran's Armed Forces and a top-tier military commander. This marks the second successful operation within five days, according to Israeli security forces, aimed at neutralizing Iran’s wartime Chief of Staff. Shadmani was a key military advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The IDF elaborated on Shadmani's demise, stating that he was eliminated in a meticulously executed overnight airstrike by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) over central Tehran between Monday and Tuesday. This precise operation was based on high-level intelligence collected by the IDF's intelligence division.
As per IDF reports, Shadmani was at the helm of Iran's Armed Forces Emergency Command and the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, which command pivotal roles in both the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian Army. He was instrumental in shaping Iran’s war strategies against Israel. Following the death of his predecessor Major General Golam Ali Rashid during Israel’s Operation Rising Lion's initial assault on June 13, Shadmani was appointed as Iran’s Chief of Staff. His elimination represents another significant blow to Iran's military command infrastructure, already strained under the pressure of Israeli forces.
In a statement posted on a social platform, the Israeli War Room reported the death of the Iranian Army Chief of Staff, emphasizing the comprehensive overnight operation in Tehran where Israeli fighter jets successfully targeted Ali Shadmani. He was known as a prominent figure within Iran’s Armed Forces Emergency Command, holding senior military authority.
Eliminated Iranian Military Officials
The Israeli military operations have so far resulted in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian commanders, including Mohammad Hasan Baqeri, Salem Ali Rashid, Ali Shahmani, Mohammad Ali Reza Tabatabai, Ismail Koutheri, Ali Shadraki, Hasan Sulaimi, Daoud Bakri, and Daoud Shihayan.
It's noteworthy that the confrontation between Iran and Israel ignited on June 13, when Israel launched extensive air raids targeting military and nuclear sites in Tehran and cities like Natanz and Fordo as part of Operation Rising Lion. In retaliation, Iran fired ballistic missiles at Israeli cities such as Tel Aviv, Haifa, and others in the early hours of June 13 as part of Operation True Promise. This attack reportedly caused one casualty and several injuries in Israel and resulted in the deaths of numerous Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists.
