Israeli strikes on Hezbollah positions have claimed nearly 700 lives, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry. The Israeli army asserts its focus on Hezbollah's military capabilities and senior commanders, though the rising civilian casualties are a concern internationally. The International Organization for Migration reports that the conflict has forced over 200,000 people from their homes in Lebanon. Since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, Hamas attacked Israel, and Hezbollah has launched rockets in support. This led to Lebanon reporting 1,540 deaths within its borders.

Israeli officials have issued stern warnings, hinting at Gaza-like destruction in Lebanon if Hezbollah's attacks continue. These statements have fueled fears that the devastation witnessed in Gaza could be replicated in Lebanon, escalating the conflict further.

Diplomatic efforts are ongoing to address this crisis. The UK Prime Minister met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the United Nations General Assembly, expressing condolences over civilian deaths and advocating for a ceasefire and dialogue-based resolution. The conflict has drawn international attention. An Israeli 'Arrow' aerial defense system successfully intercepted a missile fired from Yemen towards Israel.

After Pager blasts, Israel wreaks havoc in Lebanon

First Gaza, now Beirut. Israel has bombarded Lebanon, including Beirut, for the past three to four days. This new wave of destruction following the Pager blasts is taking a heavy toll on Lebanon. Amid this, our correspondent Ashraf Wani has reached the major war zone. Almost all flights to Lebanon have been canceled in the wake of Israeli strikes and Hezbollah's retaliatory actions. Airline companies are avoiding the risk of flying to Beirut.
