The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced a successful operation against the Palestinian group Hamas, claiming the elimination of three of its senior leaders. This strategic action also reportedly resulted in the death of Rawhi Mushtaha, the prominent head of Gaza's government. Emphasizing precision, the IDF detailed the attack on an underground compound in Northern Gaza, resulting in the deaths of Mushtaha and two other essential Hamas commanders, Sameh Siraj and Sameh Ouda. Hamas has yet to comment on these developments.
The Israeli military highlighted that these commanders were sheltered in a highly secure underground campus in the northern region of Gaza. This facility was utilized as a strategic command and control center.
In a post on X, the IDF announced, 'Approximately three months ago, a joint operation by the IDF and ISA led to the elimination of multiple terrorists, including Gaza's Hamas government head, Rawhi Mushtaha, Hamas's Political Bureau member, and Labor Committee Security Portfolio holder, Sameh Al-Siraj, as well as the General Security Apparatus commander, Sami Ouda. Israeli Air Force fighter jets targeted terrorists concealed in a fortified underground complex in northern Gaza, leading to their demise.'
The IDF continued, emphasizing that the compound functioned as Hamas's command and control center, providing senior operatives the necessary cover for prolonged operations. The IDF reiterated its commitment to seeking out all terrorists responsible for the massacre on October 7 and taking decisive action against anyone posing a threat to Israel.
Mushtaha was a close aide to one of Hamas's top leaders, Yahya Sinwar, implicated in orchestrating the October 7 attack on Israel, which resulted in over 100 fatalities. In a separate operation last week, Israel targeted Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, Lebanon.
