Israel has intensified attacks on Hezbollah. On Friday, Israel dropped 80 bombs, each weighing 1 ton, on Hezbollah headquarters located in Beirut. The Israeli army claims that Hezbollah Chief Nasrallah was killed in this attack, along with his daughter. Following these attacks, millions in Lebanon are gripped by fear. The relentless assaults in Beirut have severely impacted Hezbollah.
Amidst this, Iran has called for an urgent meeting of leaders from the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss Israeli attacks in Lebanon and Palestine. Addressing the annual meeting of OIC foreign ministers on Friday, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister (Legal and International Affairs) Kazem Gharib Abadi highlighted the significance of unity and solidarity among Islamic countries in supporting Palestinian rights.
He mentioned that the Islamic world is at a crucial juncture, facing several significant challenges, with the Palestinian issue being a top priority. As a founding member of the OIC, Iran has always backed the Islamic ummah's efforts to tackle main challenges, giving special attention to the Palestinian matter.
Furthermore, he expressed Iran's unwavering support for Palestine and the need to establish an independent Palestinian state with holy Al-Quds as its capital, along with securing full UN membership for it. Gharib Abadi reiterated that all Palestinians, whether residing in their homeland or elsewhere, should decide their future through a referendum.
He hoped that a system ensuring lasting peace, where Muslims, Christians, and Jews can live harmoniously, will be established. He pointed out that Israeli regime's terrorist activities are not confined to Palestine and Lebanon. Recently, it has launched a terrorist attack on Iranian diplomatic establishments and martyred a Hamas leader in Iran. Stressing that the Israeli regime poses a threat to both regional and international peace and security, he called for an end to its brutality and crimes.
Meanwhile, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated on Monday that Iran has convened an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) following the weekend attack on Israel amid ongoing conflicts between Hamas and the Israeli military. Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani mentioned, "Tehran has called for the emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss regional developments."
