The buzz for the iPhone 17 series has been significant this time, particularly for the iPhone 17 Pro. After years, the company has introduced a major design overhaul. The iPhone 17 Pro stands out, looking distinctly different from any previous iPhones. But is a complete design change enough?
iPhone 17 Pro Design
- From aluminum to titanium and back to aluminum body
The iPhone 17 Pro features an aluminum unibody design. The company claims it's now more durable and unlikely to heat up excessively. To prevent overheating, the company has, for the first time, implemented a vapor chamber cooling system in an iPhone to keep it cool. Apple claims that the aluminum body will facilitate better heat dispersion, ensuring the phone stays cool.

Earlier, Apple's logo was centered on the back panel of the iPhone, but this time it's slightly lower. There's a Ceramic Shield on both the front and back. Repairing this phone is easier than the previous generation, as you no longer need to replace the entire back panel if it gets damaged; only the central part needs replacement, simplifying things.
iPhone 17 Pro: Camera Plateau
The camera setup is nested in a camera plateau, resembling a visor. It's not the first time we've seen such a design, as other companies have introduced similar designs before.
Interestingly, this phone is remarkably compact compared to the iPhone 16 Pro, making single-handed use marvelous. The edges are not sharp, making it easy to hold.

This change is significant for those who felt that even with the new generation, their iPhone looked outdated. Now people can easily recognize your iPhone 17 Pro, as it looks distinctly different from all previous generations of iPhones.
Design is entirely subjective, so while some may love the iPhone 17 Pro's design, others believe titanium-bodied iPhones look more premium.
iPhone 17 Pro: A19 Pro Chipset
The iPhone 17 Pro comes with the A19 Pro chipset, touted to be extremely powerful. During initial use, it feels faster than the iPhone 16 Pro, but the full performance report will feature in our complete review. Generally, you won't notice a considerable difference during daily usage.

iPhone 17 Pro: Camera System
This time, all three rear cameras boast 48 megapixels. Two cameras are the same as the iPhone 16 Pro, while one is a new addition with 48 megapixels. However, you can’t capture 8K recordings.
Regarding photo quality, it indeed delivers better results than the iPhone 16 Pro, as I’m using both for testing. Photos clicked from the iPhone 17 Pro, especially in low light, look superior. There's significantly less noise and grain, which comes through clearly. Videos are stable, but a thorough camera review will be part of our in-depth review.
iPhone 17 Pro: Display
The iPhone 17 Pro’s display is quite captivating. The bezels feel slightly reduced, and the brightness allows for comfortable outdoor usage.
This phone features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. It also includes Pro Motion technology. This time there's Ceramic Shield 2 protection and a slight anti-reflective coating. Slight because it’s not fully perceptible to me.
The iPhone 17 Pro offers an outdoor peak brightness of 3,000 nits, exceeding any previous iPhones.

The selfie camera has significantly improved. Interestingly, it now features a function called Center Stage, which changes much. Now you won’t need to rotate the phone to landscape to take a group selfie.
While clicking selfies, an option appears above the camera interface. By selecting it, you can take landscape selfies that capture more area while maintaining good quality. For this feature, the company has provided a square camera sensor instead of a round sensor.
iPhone 17 Pro: Battery
The battery life of the iPhone 17 Pro is enhanced because it now offers approximately a 4,000 mAh battery, while the Pro Max boasts a 5,000mAh battery. This is the first time the company has equipped its phones with such powerful batteries. In e-SIM-only variants, the battery power is slightly increased, utilizing the space saved from the non-inclusion of a SIM slot to expand the battery capacity.

The fast charging support is included this time. It was there before but calling it fast charging seemed odd. This time, there's 40W support, meaning you can fully charge the phone in under an hour. However, you will need a 40W brick, which the company obviously does not include in the phone's box.
The company has mentioned significant improvements in network connectivity. These include enhancements in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well. However, only after some usage can we tell if they genuinely work well or if the company is merely claiming enhancements.
