Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) head Ajit Pawar addressed the alleged illegal government land sale involving his son's company in Pune on Sunday. He assured that an investigation is underway, and the truth will be disclosed to the public shortly.

Speaking to journalists in Baramati, Pune district, he emphasized that if any close associate or relative misuses his name to breach regulations, authorities should take appropriate action.

What’s the Full Story?

Questions have been raised over the sale of 40 acres of government land in Pune’s upscale Mundhwa area for 3 billion rupees to a company partnered by Ajit Pawar's son, Parth Pawar. Two FIRs have been filed, but Parth's name is not mentioned. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated on Saturday that legal action is being taken according to law, with no exceptions made.

How Were Documents Registered Without Transactions?

Regarding land deal inquiries, Pawar commented on Sunday, "I have already clarified my stance on the various issues that have arisen over the past few days. An investigation is in full swing, and the truth will soon be public knowledge."

He further added, "I still don't understand how documents were registered without a single rupee transaction? Within a month, we’ll uncover why the person responsible proceeded with this registration." The NCP leader shared that Chief Minister Fadnavis appointed the investigative committee.

Reference to Previous Allegations

Ajit Pawar noted, "Allegations involving 700 billion rupees in irregularities were previously made against me, lingering for 15 to 16 years. During every election, numerous allegations are levied against us."

He stressed, "We strive to operate transparently, yet as soon as we do, people start digging into land deals and accuse us."

Ajit Pawar announced that the major land deal by his son Parth’s firm has been nullified. However, officials revealed that to cancel the transaction, the company must pay double the stamp duty, amounting to 420 million rupees.
