Breaking: Hathras Stampede

In an alarming revelation, tent owner Raj Kapoor discloses the mismanagement during the spiritual gathering of Bhole Baba in Hathras. In a conversation with media, he exposed several irregularities by the event's organising committee. The permission was for 80,000 attendees, yet a tent capable of holding only 60,000 was erected, attracting a whopping crowd of 250,000.

Tent owner Raj Kapoor stated that the setup was 300 feet in length and width, contracted at 470,000 rupees, with a pending payment of 170,000 rupees still due.

According to Kapoor, there were only about 20 to 25 police officers on-site, focused on monitoring road traffic rather than the gathering. Strict prohibitions were in place during the event, including a ban on mobile phones and video recording within the tent, with security strictly enforcing these rules.

Kapoor further noted that since last November, satsangs have been organised in several cities, and each one consistently drew crowds exceeding the approved capacity. Suraj Pal, the man known as Bhole Baba, has different committees set up for each district to handle the financial aspects of these events.

Police Officer Turned Spiritual Guru

Suraj Pal, originally from the Bahadur Nagar of Kasganj district in Uttar Pradesh, resigned from his police duty in the late 1990s. Following his renunciation, he began conducting spiritual discourses as Bhole Baba.

As Bhole Baba commenced his 'satsangs' or spiritual discourses, his following rapidly grew. Suraj Pal, also known as Narayan Sakar Hari, has no offspring and hails from the Scheduled Caste community. His fame quickly spread among the poor and the marginalized, leading to a vast base of devotees.

Suraj Pal's former residence is in Agra, where he started his preachings. A resident of Kedar Nagar colony mentioned that Bhole Baba resigned from the police service around 1999 or 2000 to stay in his Kedar Nagar home. There he began his association with the Nirankari mission and his satsangs.

Why So Many Secrets?

Much curiosity surrounds Bhole Baba, aka Suraj Pal. His ashram does not have CCTV cameras, and his security detail, often referred to as his 'army', does not permit mobile video recording during satsangs. Such tight security protocols and restrictions on mobile usage at the ashram lead to questions about the mysterious nature of these gatherings.
