The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show-cause notice to Indigo Airlines concerning alleged shortcomings in simulator training for approximately 1,700 pilots. According to sources, this notice was released following a detailed examination of the responses and records obtained from the airline company last month.
Sources indicate that the DGCA found that Category C or critical airfield training for nearly 1,700 pilots, including both Pilots-in-Command and First Officers, was conducted on non-qualified simulators. The investigation highlighted that these simulators were deemed unsuitable for operations at specific airports such as Calicut, Leh, and Kathmandu.

At airports like Calicut, which feature table-top runways, there are distinct requirements for flight operations. The DGCA found that the training on these simulators did not meet the necessary standards. Confirming receipt of the notice, Indigo stated in a press release, 'We have received a show-cause notice from the DGCA concerning simulator training of some pilots. We are reviewing it and will respond within the stipulated time frame.'
