The upgrade of the airstrip on Agatti Island is also in the pipeline, poised to accommodate the operation of fighter jets and large aircrafts, and provide India with a strategic vantage point over the movements within the region.
During the inauguration of the naval base, the Defense Minister is expected to board the aircraft carriers to signify the operational readiness.
