An Indian crew member has safely returned home from the container ship that was seized by Iran. N Tessa Joseph from Thrissur, Kerala, who was among the onboard Indian crew members captured by Iranian commandos, has been brought back to India safely. Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar, stated in a post that 'Modi's guarantee always delivers, at home and abroad.'
The central government has announced that the Indian mission in Tehran is in contact with the remaining 16 members of the Indian crew. The Ministry affirmed that the returned crew member is healthy and in contact with her family in India.
Indian Embassy Continues to Coordinate with the Rest of the Crew
Randeep Jayaswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, stated, "Indian deck cadet N Tessa Joseph from Thrissur, Kerala, a member of the crew of the MSC Aries ship, has returned home today." He disclosed that the Indian Embassy in Iran facilitated her return with the cooperation of Iranian authorities and is in continuous communication with Iran to ensure the return of the other 16 crew members.
17 Indian Crew Members Were Aboard the Ship
The Iranian ambassador to India, Iraj Elahi, assured on Tuesday that all 17 Indian nationals aboard the container ship are safe. He mentioned that the weather conditions in the Persian Gulf are not favorable and that the Indian crew will be sent home once the weather clears.

Iran seized the ship connected to Israel on April 13th. The ship was raided by commandos of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard from helicopters and taken to Iran. Managed by an Israeli businessman, the ship was suspected by Iran of potentially transporting foreign aid to Israel, which was why it was captured.

It's worth noting that the ship which Iran had seized had a total of 25 crew members onboard, including those from India and other nations. Iran took control of the ship as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz, and Minister Jaishankar discussed the matter with Iran's Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian four days ago.
