India has welcomed the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, praising their commendable leadership towards peace. New Delhi also highlighted the importance of diplomacy in resolving the Ukraine conflict. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs stated, 'India appreciates the progress made at the Alaska Summit. The path forward must be paved with dialogue and diplomacy. The world yearns for a swift resolution to the Ukraine conflict.'
The meeting between President Trump and President Putin in Alaska concluded Friday without an agreement to end or halt the war in Ukraine. This conflict is Europe's deadliest since 1945, now entering its fourth year. Following the summit, Trump told the media that his discussions with President Putin were highly productive, though the nearly three-hour summit that primarily focused on the Ukraine war did not culminate in a final agreement.

Agreements Achieved in Meeting with Putin: Trump
At a joint press conference with Putin, Trump stated, 'We agreed on several points. I would say there are significant issues where we haven't fully agreed yet, but we've made some progress. Until an agreement is finalized, there's no conclusion. Very few issues remain, some less critical, although one, perhaps the most significant, remains, but we have a strong chance of resolving it. Yet, we haven’t achieved that point.'
With a red carpet rolled out in Alaska, Trump and Putin met warmly, but what's next... What does the future hold for Ukraine?
Even without an agreement on a peace treaty, President Trump on Saturday gave full marks to his meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, while shifting responsibility to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump stated, 'Now, achieving (the ceasefire) truly depends on President Zelensky. And I would also suggest that European countries need to get somewhat involved - but it's up to President Zelensky.'
Ready to Collaborate to End the War: Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his readiness for constructive collaboration to end the war with Russia, as Donald Trump informed him that Putin prioritizes a comprehensive peace agreement over a ceasefire. Zelensky posted on X, 'After discussions with President Trump, we have better coordinated our stance with European leaders. The message is clear. A real peace must be established, one that is lasting and not merely a pause between further Russian aggressions.'
