In the escalating tension between India and Canada, Canadian journalist Daniel Bordom has openly criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, casting doubts on his credibility and leadership. Bordom pointed out that the Indian government's action of recalling its high commissioner and other diplomats signals intensifying differences between the two countries. He remarked, 'Khalistani elements are fully exploiting this situation... they view it as a total victory and are launching attacks on India.'
'Canadians Showing Discontent with Trudeau’
Journalist Daniel Bordom noted that Canadians are significantly disillusioned with Trudeau's decision. Most Canadians have grown weary of the current government, do not trust institutions, find the media to be unreliable, and question Justin Trudeau's reliability. Many Canadians might bow their heads and potentially side with India.
Bordom expressed that India-Canada relations will remain strained until there is a leadership change in Canada. He speculated that if elections occur, the new government may take a different approach to relations with India, predicting that Trudeau's leadership might not survive the polls.
Understanding the Current Dispute
India has opted to recall its high commissioner and other diplomats from Canada. Meanwhile, it has also decided to expel six Canadian diplomats, instructing them to leave India by midnight on October 19. This happened after India rejected a diplomatic note from Canada accusing Indian diplomats of being persons of interest in the killing of pro-Khalistani supporter Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year.
