Lodged in prison over corruption charges, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan alleges that his wife's jail sentence is directly orchestrated by the Army Chief.
Imran's spouse, Bushra Bibi, 49, is currently detained on corruption charges, being held under house arrest at their Bani Gala residence in Islamabad.
In Adiala Jail, Khan disclosed multiple allegations against Army Chief Asim Munir. He asserts that his wife's punishment is directly linked to General Munir as the presiding judge claimed to be coerced into the verdict.
The ex-Prime Minister vehemently stated that if anything happens to his wife, he will not spare Asim Munir. 'I will expose his unconstitutional and illicit actions for as long as I live,' he declared.
Khan criticized the 'law of the jungle' prevailing in Pakistan, where, according to him, everything goes as per the whims of the 'jungle king'. If it suits the ‘king’, all cases against Nawaz Sharif get dismissed, whereas he and his allies are sentenced in three cases within five days when desired.
IMF loans won't improve the nation's state, claims Khan
Imran Khan believes that IMF loans will not stabilize Pakistan's economy; rather, investment will. However, due to the 'jungle law', no one will invest in the country. Khan acknowledged Saudi Arabia's interest but emphasized investments will only materialize under a rule of law.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated in Adiala Jail since August last year. Both he and his wife Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 14 years in prison this January after being found guilty in the Toshakhana case. Following their convictions, Bushra Bibi surrendered to Adiala Jail but was later placed under house arrest at their Bani Gala residence, which was temporarily converted into a jail.
