An alarming case has emerged from the Diva area of Thane district, Maharashtra, where a mother mercilessly beat her four-year-old daughter using kitchen tongs. Based on a viral video on social media, police have filed a case against the accused woman.
According to the police, the incident occurred in Diva town, involving a housewife ruthlessly hitting her young daughter. The video showed the child writhing in pain as her siblings attempted to protect her, yet the mother's anger knew no bounds. The incident came to light when the older sister of the child recorded the event and sent it to their grandmother in Mumbai. After viewing the footage, the grandmother promptly contacted the police and lodged a complaint.

Sub-Inspector Anil Sonawane of the Mumbra Police Station stated that the police took action upon a vigilant citizen's tip-off. Subsequently, based on a family member's complaint, an FIR was filed against the woman under sections 115 and 118 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Juvenile Justice Act. However, the exact timing of the incident remains unclear.
The officer further revealed that the woman has four children, but the reason behind the assault is yet to be identified. The investigation is ongoing, and steps are taken to ensure the child's appropriate care and protection. This case raises significant questions about parental responsibilities and child safeguarding in society.
