Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in London stated that Pakistan has taken parts of Kashmir (POK) and we await its return. Once it re-integrates into India, complete peace will be established in Jammu and Kashmir.
He elaborated on the peace formula, explaining that the process in Jammu and Kashmir was conducted in three phases. These insights were shared during a talk at Chatham House, London, on 'India's Rise and Role in the World'.
Solved in Three Phases
During a discussion in London, someone asked S. Jaishankar about the solution in Kashmir. He responded, 'The peace restoration process in Kashmir was executed in three stages. Firstly, Article 370 was abrogated. It was the first step. Subsequently, the focus was on restoring economic activity, development, and social justice in Kashmir. Finally, the aim was to conduct elections with a good voter turnout.'
Pakistan's Occupancy Issue
The Foreign Minister further stated, 'I believe that the day we are awaiting is the return of the territories unlawfully seized by Pakistan. When it happens, I assure you, the Kashmir issue will be resolved.'
On the U.S. Policy
S. Jaishankar discussed U.S. policy and said, 'Under President Donald Trump, the U.S. administration fosters multipolarity, which is beneficial for India's interests. Both nations have agreed on the need for a bilateral trade agreement.'
Importance of QUAD
Mentioning the America, India, Australia, and Japan QUAD alliance, S. Jaishankar remarked, 'From President Donald Trump's perspective, we have QUAD, a collective enterprise fostering an understanding where everyone contributes their fair share.'
