CCTV footage related to the murder of Congress worker Himani Narwal has surfaced in Rohtak, Haryana. The footage captures the accused, Sachin, carrying a black trolley bag on February 28, around 10 PM, near Himani's residence. Distressingly, the victim's body was discovered in the same suitcase near the Sampla bus stand on the morning of March 1, around 11 AM.
Rohtak's Additional DGP, KK Rao, reported that a special investigation team (SIT) was formed to probe the case. The accused, Sachin, hails from Jhajjar district in Haryana, where he operates a mobile phone store. He was apprehended in Delhi. Sachin had been in contact with Himani through social media for over a year and a half and frequented her home in Rohtak.
Himani Narwal, who lived alone in her ancestral home in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak, was visited by Sachin on February 27. They quarreled over an unknown issue, after which Sachin strangled Himani with a wired phone charger, resulting in her death on the spot. Post-murder, Sachin confiscated her jewelry, laptop, and rings, then fled to Jhajjar to stash these items in his shop.
That same night, he bundled the body in the black suitcase, boarding an autorickshaw with it and bloodstained bedding. After alighting near the Sampla bus stand, he left the suitcase and escaped. The motive behind the dispute between Himani and Sachin remains unclear, and police plan to interrogate him further during remand. Eight teams, including the SIT, were deployed to crack this case.

Investigators managed to locate CCTV evidence during the probe, leading to the identification of the culprit. Before the arrest, Himani Narwal's family refused to perform her last rites until justice was served. Her mother, Savita, demanded capital punishment for the murderer, asserting, "Only the death penalty for my daughter's killer will bring justice."
Himani's mother recalled her last conversation on February 27, when Himani mentioned her engagement the following day with a party event. The phone was later found unreachable. The family has vowed not to conduct the funeral until justice is achieved. Himani was pursuing law (LLB) and was a dedicated Congress worker, participating in Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra.
