In a significant decision, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has halted the demolition of properties belonging to petitioners including Fahim Khan and Yusuf Sheikh. The High Court expressed concern over the demolition carried out without giving property owners a chance to be heard. Fahim Khan's property had already been torn down even before the court's order.

The court has directed the government and municipal officials to file a response, with the next hearing scheduled for April 15. This decision has sparked discussions in the city, as questions arise over the actions of the local administration.

Yusuf's brother, Ayaz Khan, has accused the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) of illegally demolishing their house. Ayaz claims possession of all valid documents and argues that the demolitions were an act of revenge. He states, "This demolition is retaliatory. We have nothing to do with the riots. I am the rightful owner of the property we've held since 1970. We are law-abiding citizens."

Ayaz alleges that they were improperly asked to submit documents on a holiday, with officials using self-imposed holiday excuses to refuse the documents and issuing a unilateral demolition order instead.

Following the High Court hearing, the court reprimanded the NMC and stopped the illegal demolition. This disorderly action has caused significant loss to Ayaz and his family. The local community is also deeply discontented with this move.
