On an Indigo flight from Jeddah to Ahmedabad, a passenger jeopardized everyone's safety by lighting up a beedi. Upon landing at Ahmedabad airport, the incident was reported to the airport police station.

An Indigo flight en route to Ahmedabad carried a 70-year-old Gafar Abdul Raheem from Navsari, Gujarat. Overcome by a craving, he lit a beedi on the flight, endangering passenger safety. The air hostesses, smelling the smoke, conducted a check and uncovered the act.

Gafar Abdul used a yogurt cup as an ashtray, raising the question of how the elderly man managed to bring matches onto the flight despite stringent security checks. Upon interrogation, a matchbox was found on his person.

Action Taken Against the Beedi-smoking Passenger

Gafar Abdul Raheem’s indulgence led to an FIR being filed against him for compromising the safety of fellow passengers. When the flight landed in Ahmedabad, Indigo's staff informed the local staff of the occurrence, resulting in an FIR lodged at the airport police station against the passenger.

Incident Raises Multiple Questions

More than 100 flights, including numerous international, arrive and depart daily from Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport. Although there is usually a designated smoking area at airports, carrying flammable items on board is strictly prohibited. This event aboard the Jeddah to Ahmedabad Indigo flight poses several concerning questions.
