In a striking pre-election development in Haryana, former MLA Kiran Chaudhary and her daughter, ex-MP Shruti Chaudhary, have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Their resignations from Congress were tendered just the day before. Kiran and Shruti, along with their followers, are now officially part of the BJP.

The rift that led to their departure was their accusation of the Congress state unit functioning as 'private estate'. The fingers pointed towards Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the former Chief Minister of Haryana. It is noteworthy that Kiran Chaudhary is the daughter-in-law of former Chief Minister Bansi Lal, and currently the sitting MLA from Tosham in Bhiwani district.

Until her resignation, Shruti Chaudhary held the position of Vice-President of Congress' Haryana unit. On Wednesday, in the presence of prominent figures such as Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, BJP's National Secretary Tarun Chugh, Haryana's Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and other senior leaders, they accepted their BJP membership at the party headquarters.

The political ambiance in the state has been heated following Kiran and Shruti Chaudhary's switch to the BJP. Several political leaders, from former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda to ex-MP Brijendra Singh, have made public statements regarding the matter.

Upon reaching the BJP office on Wednesday, Shruti Chaudhary stated that there's a rising wave here. This is credited to BJP's policies that are propelling the nation forward. People are choosing Prime Minister Modi as their leader time and again. This bears testimony to the BJP's escalating popularity. We have all gathered here to fortify the BJP.

With the Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October this year, political parties are in full swing with preparations. The state is currently governed by the BJP with Nayab Singh Saini as the Chief Minister. The exit of Kiran and Shruti Chaudhary from Congress is seen as a significant setback to the party. The mother-daughter duo had previously expressed displeasure with the party high command over the distribution of tickets for the Lok Sabha elections.
