In Haryana's assembly elections, jalebi became the hot topic of discussion. After securing an impressive electoral victory, Haryana BJP sent a kilo of jalebi to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. This stems from a viral comment Rahul Gandhi made about jalebi from a local sweet shop during the Gohana rally.
Even before the election results, jalebi was trending on social media, as leaders from both parties engaged in a playful exchange over the sweet. Following the results, the BJP sent jalebi to Rahul Gandhi. Haryana BJP proudly shared on social media platform X that all party workers contributed to sending this special delivery of Bikanervala jalebi to Rahul's residence.
The Curious Case of Jalebi
During a rally in Gohana, Rahul Gandhi mentioned, 'I tasted jalebi in the car and messaged my sister Priyanka that it was the best jalebi I've ever eaten. I'm bringing back a box for you.' He told Deepender Ji and Bajrang Poonia Ji that this jalebi should be known across India and the world. He humorously added that if the jalebi makes it abroad, the shop might transform into a factory, providing employment to thousands.
PM Modi's Witty Retort
Prime Minister Modi also took a jab at Rahul Gandhi’s jalebi comment. He labeled Congress's jalebi in Jharkhand as ‘jalebi of lies,’ suggesting their lofty promises intend to blindside the public.
Responding to the Congress leader’s remarks, Chief Minister Saini commented, stating that no one gave Rahul Gandhi significance; instead, someone handed him a box of jalebis in a car, surprising him with the sheer size of the sweet. Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda countered, saying post-election, they would send jalebis back to them.

How Did the Election Results Pan Out in Haryana?
This election season in Haryana saw BJP clinching a hat-trick of victories, winning 48 seats compared to Congress's 37. The electorate dismissed both JJP and Dushyant Chautala's chances entirely.
