Haryana Election Date 2024
: The Election Commission has announced the dates for elections to 90 seats of the Haryana Assembly. Voting for all 90 seats will take place in a single phase. The voting will be held on October 1, and the results will be declared on October 4 after counting. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the election schedule.
The Chief Election Commissioner stated that out of the 90 seats in Haryana, 73 are general and 17 are reserved. The final voter list in Haryana will be published on August 27. He also mentioned that there are over 20 million voters in Haryana, with 20,629 polling booths, including 150 model polling booths. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized that the Lok Sabha elections are a testament to our democratic strength.

Last Time Voting Also Held in One Phase
The last assembly elections for the 90 seats in Haryana were also held in a single phase in 2019. Voting for all seats took place on October 21, 2019, and the results were declared on October 24. In the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, 68.20% of the voters exercised their right to vote.
No Party Achieved Majority in 2019
In the 2019 Haryana Assembly elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received 36.7% of the votes, winning 40 seats, making it the largest party. The Congress secured 28.2% of the votes, winning 31 seats, while Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) received 14.9% of the votes, winning 10 seats. The Haryana Lokhit Party won one seat with less than 1% of the votes. Seven independent candidates also succeeded in reaching the assembly. The magic number for a majority in the 90-member Haryana Assembly is 46 seats. No single party won a majority.

BJP-JJP Alliance Formed After Elections
After the Haryana election results, the BJP and JJP formed a government with the support of independent candidates, led by Manohar Lal Khattar. Dushyant Chautala of the JJP became the Deputy Chief Minister. Shortly before the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP replaced Manohar Lal Khattar with Naib Singh Saini as the Chief Minister and also broke off its alliance with the JJP.
