Stampede at Haridwar's Mansa Devi Temple Claims Lives

This morning in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, a catastrophic stampede resulted in the loss of four pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh. The tragedy struck around 9 AM when a massive crowd gathered at Mansa Devi Temple during the holy month of Sawan led to chaos, causing the death of six devotees, four of whom were from Uttar Pradesh.

Those who tragically lost their lives include 12-year-old Aarush from Bareilly, 18-year-old Vicky from Nagliya Kala Majra village on Kaimganj Road in Rampur, a lawyer from Mahetwalvad in Barabanki, and Mrs. Shanti from Budaun. Unfortunately, these individuals lost their lives on the spot amidst the commotion.

In the wake of the incident, law enforcement and administrative officers displayed promptness in initiating relief efforts. The injured were swiftly transported to the nearest hospital, and additional police forces were deployed to regain control over the situation.

This mishap occurred during the bustling period of the Sawan month. Mansa Devi Temple witnesses significant crowds each year. The Uttarakhand Administration has ordered a thorough investigation into the occurrence and expressed their condolences to the bereaved families. Moreover, the Uttar Pradesh government is also in contact with the families of the deceased, assuring all possible assistance.
