Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh are teaming up for the upcoming film 'Gustakh Ishq'. To promote the movie, they attended Sahitya AajTak 2025 where they discussed topics ranging from their film to romance and even food. During this event, Vijay Varma made an emotional request to the audience.
'Gustakh Ishq' is set to release in theaters on November 28. Its first song, 'Uljalool Ishq', released a while ago. When asked about what 'Uljalool Ishq' means, Vijay explained, 'It's something so unpredictable... you don't know where it starts, where it ends. It's like a jalebi, twisted and tangled love.'
What is Gustakh Ishq like?
'Gustakh Ishq' captures the nostalgia of the past era. Vijay reminisced, 'We are 90s kids, familiar with a time before cell phones. Waiting in line for a missed call, then calling back, announcing when we'd leave the house... it brings back fond memories, unlike today's instant-text culture. Our film perfectly captures this essence.'
Working with Naseeruddin Shah
The film features big names, including Naseeruddin Shah. When asked if working with such a renowned actor was pressuring, Fatima said, 'Not at all. Great actors are also the most experienced and humble. We feared they'd judge us, but they were incredibly kind.'
Manish Malhotra is an angel
Fashion designer Manish Malhotra has produced 'Gustakh Ishq'. Sharing their experience working with him, Vijay said, 'The script described a struggler, someone surviving on 200 rupees. When Manish is the producer, even the struggler looks elegant!' Fatima added, 'Whenever he came on set, it felt heavenly. He loves food, and lunches became luxury experiences.'
Vijay's Request to the Audience
As the session concluded, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Vijay Varma urged fans to watch their film 'Gustakh Ishq'. Vijay emotionally appealed, explaining he hadn't been on the big screen for 5 years since the pre-lockdown days. While seen on OTT platforms, he hoped audiences would visit theaters to support his film after a long hiatus.
