An appalling incident in the Babra district of Amreli, Gujarat, has left the community shaken. Accusations have been made against Shailesh Khunt, the principal of a private school, alleging inappropriate conduct with an 11-year-old student. He allegedly attempted to exploit the student under the pretense of homework leniency and engaged in untoward behavior. The police have detained the accused.

The incident came to light when the young victim refused to attend school, breaking down in tears in front of his parents. The boy's mother reported that her son, a student at a private school in Babra since 2024, demonstrated extreme distress prior to going to school two days earlier.

After persistent inquiries, the boy revealed the principal's disturbing behavior. The student disclosed chilling details, explaining that the principal often summoned him to isolated areas such as the computer lab, behind the school building, the rooftop, and old bathrooms, where he would indecently touch and kiss him. The accused allegedly threatened and bribed the child with promises of no homework and leniency to keep him silent.

The child's mother filed a complaint at Babra Police Station, leading to charges under sections 8 and 10 of the POCSO Act against the principal. Subsequent to this, rapid police action led to the arrest of the principal, who was presented in court and remanded to judicial custody. The case has stirred strong reactions in the community, igniting concern and anger among parents. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to identify any other potential victims.
