'I am Grateful to PM Modi'
The Russian President stated, 'BRICS has never aimed to oppose anyone. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reiterated that BRICS is not an anti-Western group but a non-Western one.' Putin further added, 'I am grateful to PM Modi for bringing up the Russia-Ukraine conflict issue.'
He continued, 'Russia wants to resolve it peacefully. It was the Ukrainian side that halted the dialogue, not us. In conversations with PM Modi, he consistently raises the issue and shares his perspectives. We are thankful for that.'
PM Modi to Visit Russia on October 22-23
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia on October 22-23 to attend the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, upon the invitation of President Vladimir Putin. According to an official notice from the Ministry of External Affairs, the summit, organized under the theme 'Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security,' will provide a significant platform for leaders to discuss key global issues.
Prime Minister to Meet BRICS Leaders
The Ministry of External Affairs said, 'The summit will provide an invaluable opportunity to assess the progress of BRICS initiatives and identify potential sectors for future cooperation.' During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from BRICS member countries and leaders invited to the Kazan city of Russia.
PM Modi's Second Visit to Russia in 2024
This will be Prime Minister Modi's second visit to Russia this year. He previously visited Moscow for an informal meeting with the Russian President. This marked his first visit to Moscow since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier in August, Prime Minister Modi talked to the Russian President and urged for a swift resolution of the Ukraine conflict. This conversation took place a few days after Prime Minister Modi visited Kyiv and met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
