Union Minister Amit Shah made a momentous announcement on Sunday in Ahmedabad. Soon, a grand temple for Goddess Sita will be erected in Mithila. This temple will serve as a beacon of female empowerment. The Home Minister praised the people of Mithilanchal and Bihar for their contributions to development, highlighting their historic role in strengthening democracy and philosophy.
Speaking at the 'Eternal Mithila Festival 2025' in Gandhinagar, he reiterated the promise of constructing a grand temple for Goddess Sita. Having stated during the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar that while the Ram Temple is complete, now it's the turn for Sita's majestic abode. This temple will communicate the ideals of female strength and demonstrate how to lead an exemplary life.
Bihar's Significant Contribution to Gujarat's Development
He acknowledged the essential contributions of Mithilanchal and Bihar residents in Gujarat's growth. The Home Minister assured them of safety, respect, and hospitality in Gujarat. The ancient land of Mithila has been a cradle of intellect since the times of the Ramayana and Mahabharata, with the historic kingdom of Videha being the mother of democracy.
He quoted Mahatma Buddha who often stated that as long as the people of Videha stand united, they remain unbeatable. Mithilanchal has proved to be a bastion of democracy, spreading its influence nationwide. It is also the land of scholastic debates, contributing greatly to four of India's six main philosophies.
Soon, A Majestic Temple for Goddess Sita
The Home Minister also assured that the majestic temple for Goddess Sita in Mithila will offer the world teachings on living life according to her ideals. The tradition of resolving through dialogue developed on the land of Mithila itself, with significant contributions from the citizens of Bihar, especially those from Mithila, towards the progress of Gujarat.
Shah articulated that Mithila has historically been a holy ground for the Vedas, Nyaya, Mimamsa, and rich literature. This land has preserved its cultural and intellectual heritage until today. The inauguration of the ‘Eternal Mithila Bhavan’ and the unveiling of a grand statue of Mahakavi Vidyapati were key highlights in Gandhinagar. He emphasized that this building would become an important cultural center for Mithila, reflecting the knowledge and strength of figures like Goddess Sita, scholars Bharati, Gargi, and Maitreyi.
