The Life of Sheikh Hasina
Sheikh Hasina has held the position of Bangladesh's Prime Minister since 2009 and earlier from 1996 to 2001. She has been sworn in four times as Prime Minister and was the first to complete a five-year term in an independent Bangladesh.
Born on September 28, 1947, Hasina is the eldest daughter in her family and spent her early years in Dhaka. She started her political career as a student leader and was seen as a rising star until tragedy struck her family in 1975 when her parents and three brothers were murdered.
