Cyber Attack Disrupts Flights: Advisory from Heathrow

A cyber attack has led to flight delays at major European airports such as London and Brussels. Collins Aerospace, the company operating systems for airports and airlines worldwide, confirmed a technical glitch due to the cyber attack.

Heathrow Airport posted on X, stating efforts are underway to resolve the technical issue swiftly. Passengers are advised to check their flight status with their airline before traveling and arrive three hours early for long-haul flights and two hours early for domestic flights.

Heathrow Airport announced extra staff have been deployed in check-in areas to assist passengers and minimize disruptions. The airport apologized for any inconvenience caused.

According to Reuters, Brussels Airport reported that the cyber attack disabled automated check-in and boarding services, forcing staff to manually process passengers. The airport authority stated that flights were significantly affected, resulting in delays and cancellations, while the service provider works to resolve the issue. On Saturday, airport officials advised passengers to confirm flights with airlines before traveling. The cyber attack has impacted passengers in various places.

Berlin Airport informed on its website that due to a technical issue with a system provider operating across Europe, long waits at check-in are occurring. The airport stated that efforts to resolve the problem are ongoing.
