The residence of West Bengal's cabinet minister, Chandra Nath Sinha, was the target of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid which resulted in the seizure of INR 40 lakh in cash. Minister Sinha was unable to account for the cash, prompting the ED to also confiscate his mobile phone to gather evidence. It's reported that a marathon interrogation at his Bolpur house lasted for about 13 hours and concluded around 10:30 pm. The ED team had entered Sinha's residence at approximately 9 am on Friday.
ED sources have indicated that a register was recovered from TMC Youth Wing leader Kuntal Ghosh, which contained Chandra Nath Sinha's name. Ghosh had been previously arrested by the ED in connection with the teacher recruitment scam.

Businessman Prasanna Roy Arrested by ED
Businessman Prasanna Roy was summoned for questioning at the CGO Complex in Kolkata on Wednesday by the ED. After an extensive 11-hour interrogation session, he was arrested. Sources claim that Roy played a key role in facilitating discussions between candidates, former education ministers, and other politicians involved in the teacher recruitment scam. Last year, Roy was arrested by the CBI but was later granted bail by the Supreme Court.
What's the background?
Following an order by the Calcutta High Court, both the ED and CBI are investigating alleged irregularities in the teacher recruitment process. During the investigation, Prasanna Roy's involvement came to light, leading to a series of raids by the Enforcement Directorate last December at the homes and offices of chartered accountants and businessmen involved in the case. As part of this ongoing case, former education minister Partha Chatterjee and several leaders of the Trinamool Congress, along with state education department officials, are currently incarcerated.
