Woman Rescued Three Days Later
On Monday, officials reported a miraculous rescue from beneath the debris of the Great Wall Hotel in Mandalay—a woman was safely retrieved. Surviving for three days raises hopes for further rescues. The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar confirmed her stable condition via a Facebook post.
The epicenter near Mandalay in Myanmar also brought devastation to neighboring nations, such as Thailand, with substantial damage in Bangkok.
Rescue Operations Continue in Bangkok
In Bangkok, rescuers are tirelessly working to save 76 individuals trapped in the ruins of a partially constructed skyscraper whose structure collapsed under the quake's impact. As of Sunday, the death toll in Thailand stood at 18, with fears of more bodies to be recovered from the wreckage.
International Aid Flows In
Myanmar, already grappling with internal conflict, now has to cope with the earthquake's additional devastation. In response, countries like India and international agencies, including the United Nations, have dispatched aid to support over 23,000 affected people.
