Amid the ongoing political tussle between BJP and Congress over Muslim reservation in Maharashtra, Congress leader and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy boldly stated that this issue will be resolved once the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) government is formed. Highlighting Muslim reservation in Telangana as an example, he expressed that the Congress party is committed to ensuring justice for the poor and needy.
Reddy's statement surfaces amid the escalating controversy surrounding Muslim reservation in the Maharashtra elections, where BJP leaders stand firm in opposition since its annulment in 2021.
What Revanth Reddy Said...
Revanth Reddy articulated, 'We will deliberate on this matter once a government is established in Maharashtra. Initially, Telangana had 5% reservation, but it contravened the 50% cap set, leading the Supreme Court to adjust it to 4%.' He added, 'In Telangana, we facilitated recruitment of 11,000 teachers, with 720 positions allocated to Muslims under reservation. Serving justice to the destitute and needy is a responsibility of Congress.'
Amit Shah's Allegations
Recently, at an election rally in Maharashtra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleged that a group of Muslim scholars met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, demanding 10% reservation for Muslims in the state. Shah claimed that Congress consented to this demand.

Shah mentioned, "If Muslims are granted reservation, it would necessitate reducing SC, ST, and OBC reservations. Rahul Baba, not just you, but your entire lineage cannot cut SC, ST, and OBC quotas to accommodate Muslims."
However, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole dismissed Shah's assertions, stating, "We (MVA) are engaging electoral issues and will not be ensnared in false Hindu-Muslim narratives." Voting for Maharashtra's 288 assembly seats is scheduled for November 20, with results announced on November 23.
