Shopping online has become a modern convenience. Many of us are accustomed to clicking to purchase even routine items. However, sometimes this convenience can take an unexpected turn.
Such was the case for Anna Elliott of Tennessee, who placed an order with fashion retailer Shein for some clothes. However, the package she received left her in shock.
Upon opening her courier package, she discovered blood vials where her clothes should have been, along with a can of beans. Initially alarmed, she called the number for the blood testing company listed on the vials. They confirmed that the vials had been mishandled and were never intended for home delivery. These samples are typically sent only to doctors.
Elliot reached out to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and her local sheriff’s department. The CDC is investigating the incident as a potential biohazard. Meanwhile, Shein insisted that the package dispatched from their store contained only the clothes the customer had ordered, suggesting alterations might have occurred during the shipping process.
Shein stated, 'Upon learning that a customer received a tampered package, we immediately initiated an investigation. It revealed that when the package completed our quality control process and left our facility, it contained only Shein items. We will continue to actively support our customer throughout the ongoing investigation.' FedEx has issued an apology for the incident and is taking steps to investigate the matter further.
