Delhi's citizens are grappling with a relentless water crisis. For over a week, Delhi remains parched, with politics erupting in full force. In many states, including Delhi, a fierce heatwave is raging. Northern India sizzles under extreme temperatures, leaving residents exhausted. Amidst such harsh conditions, the water scarcity in the Delhi-NCR region has reached alarming levels. Geeta Colony, Vasant Vihar, Okhla, and countless other areas are facing a severe shortage. At the sight of water tankers, people flock in relief-seeking droves.
Scramble for Water at the Sight of Tankers
In Geeta Colony, water supply is being managed through tankers, and the local populace is visibly perturbed. The queues for water stretch long, revealing the critical state of affairs. Delhites rely on ministrations from tanker deliveries.
The struggle for water is just as intense in Vasant Vihar's Kusumpur Pahari as residents depend on tanker deliveries to survive their daily needs. The arrival of a tanker precipitates a frantic scramble for water.
In Okhla, the queues for water tankers speak volumes about the dire situation. The heartbreaking visuals from this area highlight the gravity of the crisis.
BJP Blames AAP for the Water Crisis
Meanwhile, BJP places the blame squarely on the AAP government for Delhi's water woes. Protests have erupted as BJP leaders take to the streets. MP Manoj Tiwari protested in Mukherjee Nagar and charged that Delhi's water crisis stems from the ruling party's mismanagement. The BJP alleges that the AAP is deflecting their responsibilities by pointing fingers at the BJP-led Haryana government. Protesters displayed their angst by smashing pots outside the Delhi Jal Board office.
BJP Holds Protest Rallies
Manoj Tiwari accused Water Minister Atishi of lying about the water situation in the city, claiming that 55% of Delhi's water is being wasted, and insinuated that the government is colluding with the 'tanker mafia'. The demonstration saw the involvement of BJP MPs such as Manoj Tiwari, Bansuri Swaraj, Ramvir Bidhuri, Praveen Khandelwal, and Yogendra Chandolia all taking a stand at various DJB offices.
