This Year, No Water Crisis or Flooding: Rekha Gupta Shares Vision for Delhi

Delhi's Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, announced that this year, the capital will not face a water crisis during the summer, and flooding during the rainy season will be mitigated. Attending the 'India Today Conclave' in Delhi, Rekha Gupta discussed the Summer Action Plan and outlined strategies to tackle issues such as pollution, water scarcity, and flooding in Delhi.

Water Issues to be Resolved in Delhi

Rekha Gupta emphasized that residents from different states come to Delhi seeking a developed capital. The Chief Minister reassured that it is their responsibility to fulfill every citizen's hopes. Gupta promised that this year, there will be no water crisis during summer and rain-induced flooding will be addressed. Work has already begun, as these issues plague Delhi's residents annually.

Addressing the pollution problem, Rekha Gupta shared that timely and expert-guided efforts are being made to eliminate it. She highlighted the need for action across all fronts to control pollution, focusing on reducing both air and water pollution. For instance, cleaning the Yamuna and its tributaries is underway. Meanwhile, plans to reduce air pollution include adopting e-vehicles and finding solutions for crop burning, in collaboration with neighboring states.

Landfills to be Cleared

Gupta pointed out the ongoing effort to reduce Delhi's landfill sites, projecting an 80% reduction in two years. Daily progress is being made towards this goal. Gupta also mentioned that within three years, residents could enjoy a cruise on the Yamuna and possibly host a similar conclave there. Additional factors contributing to pollution control are being addressed as priorities.

Rekha Gupta affirmed the commitment to not making promises that require apologies later. The government is committed to fulfilling all promises made to the public, distancing from administrations that only make promises. The current government in Delhi is action-oriented and dedicated to delivering results.
