In the heart of the national capital, Delhi, the bulldozers have roared over properties tied to those implicated in drug trafficking. This crackdown follows orders from Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena last year. A senior official revealed on Sunday that bulldozers took down five properties on Saturday, belonging to individuals ensnared in the drug trade. The affected properties were located in MCD's Shahdara, Rohini, and Najafgarh zones. The demolished estates belonged to Monu, Vikas, Rahul, Vikram, and Sunita. Officials stated that these individuals were apprehended between 2022 and 2023 for various drug trafficking incidents. Monu has been involved in 108 such cases, while Sunita and Rahul were not previously known to participate in such activities. Another senior official disclosed that LG V.K. Saxena, on June 26 last year, during the observance of Anti-Narcotics Day, proclaimed that properties and homes of those involved in narcotics trafficking would be seized and later bulldozed. These directions were in amplification of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign for a drug-free India, and in adherence to these orders, the five properties were subsequently razed.
