In the early hours of Monday, powerful earthquake tremors shook the Delhi-NCR region. According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake had a magnitude of 4.0. Reports indicate that the epicenter was in New Delhi. An official informed PTI news agency that the epicenter was near the Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in Dhaula Kuan. The quake, occurring at 5:36 am, originated at a depth of five kilometers. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.
Officials noted that the epicenter area is near a lake and has experienced earthquakes every two to three years. In 2015, the area recorded a 3.3 magnitude earthquake.

Residents Fled Their Homes
The intense tremors compelled residents of Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad to vacate tall buildings. A post on X from Delhi Police reassured, "We hope you are all safe." Citizens are encouraged to reach out to the 112 helpline for emergencies.

Reactions from Delhi-NCR Residents
At New Delhi Railway Station, passengers reported to ANI news agency that it felt as if a train was running underground. One individual remarked, 'Everything was shaking.' A vendor at the station said that as soon as the tremors were felt and everything started to wobble, many customers began to scream. Another passenger waiting for their train described to ANI that the earthquake tremors, though brief, were so intense that it felt like a high-speed train had passed by.
