In protest against the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, continuous demonstrations have been taking place across several regions of the country. The Mamata government is facing criticism from the opposition and within its own ranks. Today, doctors are staging protests in Delhi regarding this issue. After the assault and murder case, 37 troublemakers have been arrested in connection with the vandalism at RG Kar Hospital.

- The Kolkata Police has summoned two doctors in connection with the RG Kar Hospital rape-murder case. The doctors' community plans to hold a protest march. Police summoned Dr. Kunal Sarkar and Dr. Subarna Goswami for questioning. Supporting these doctors, the medical community will march to the Kolkata Police Headquarters today.

Dr. Kunal Sarkar, a renowned cardiologist in Bengal, confirmed the receipt of a summons and expressed confusion as to why he was targeted. Dr. Subarna Goswami echoed this sentiment, stating she doesn’t understand why she was summoned since she is not investigating the case and has not revealed the victim's name on social media.

- Lawyers practicing at the Calcutta High Court organized a march on Monday, demanding justice in the alleged rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and the punishment of the real culprits.

- Four students from RG Kar Medical College have arrived at the CBI office in Kolkata. The investigation agency will question them regarding the trainee doctor's rape case.

- A two-member CBI team has reached the victim’s house to gather information from her parents and family members about the case.

- Resident doctors from AIIMS and other hospitals in the national capital have announced a unique 'OPD' protest starting today against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor and the mob attack on Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital. In a statement, AIIMS RDA mentioned that they discussed the issue with the Action Committee for Central Protection Act and AIIMS RDA's General Body, and unanimously decided to continue the strike. This includes halting academic activities, elective OPD, ward and OT services, ICU procedures, and emergency OT. However, resident doctors will be available at Nirman Bhawan to provide alternative OPD services to patients, ensuring that emergency services in hospitals continue as usual.

- The official notification stated, 'In the interest of the nation and in accordance with our Hippocratic Oath (the pledge taken by doctors to uphold ethical standards and professional responsibilities), we will not halt patient care services. We aim to highlight the lack of safety for medical professionals across the country. Our demand to the government is to immediately bring a Central Protection Act for the security of doctors, healthcare personnel, and medical institutions through an ordinance. We urge the government to accept our plea.'

- The RDA has requested the government to provide necessary arrangements for alternative OPD services outside the Central Ministry of Health (Nirman Bhawan). Earlier, a 24-hour nationwide strike called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) concluded on Sunday morning at 6 AM. However, doctors are persisting in their fight for justice for the 31-year-old PG trainee doctor. The protesting doctors are demanding immediate reforms, including improvements in the working conditions of resident doctors, better hostel facilities, and the implementation of a central law to prevent workplace violence.
