The legislative assembly elections in Delhi are set for early next year, but the political temperature is already rising. Former Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, launched a scathing attack on the BJP. He warned that what they feared is coming true. Kejriwal claimed that if the votes went to them, all the development work accomplished by the Aam Aadmi Party in a decade could be undone in collaboration with the people of Delhi.
In a post on X, Kejriwal declared that today they have officially announced changes. This announcement heralds an era of 24-hour power cuts, extensive blackouts, and the end of free electricity. Monthly electricity bills could rise into the thousands, women's free bus travel might cease, public schools may go in disarray again, community clinics may shut down, and free medicines and treatments in government hospitals might end.
Delhi BJP Introduces New Slogan: 'Won't Endure Anymore, Will Bring Change'
In preparation for the upcoming legislative elections, the BJP inaugurated its election office. The event, attended by Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva and his wife alongside election in-charge Baijayant Panda, coordination committee chairman and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, MPs Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, Manoj Tiwari, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Bansuri Swaraj, Yogendra Chandolia, Praveen Khandelwal, and others, was marked by a ceremonial ritual. On this occasion, Panda launched the new slogan 'Won't Endure Anymore, Will Bring Change.'
BJP Will Gather Feedback from the Public
During the event, Panda and other leaders flagged off a fleet of vans that will roam Delhi to collect public feedback for the party's manifesto for the assembly elections. BJP leaders also stated that the people of Delhi want relief from issues like dirty water supply, damaged roads, costly electricity, and pollution by sidelining the AAP.
Kejriwal's Attack on BJP
Shooting down the BJP slogan, Kejriwal contended that the opposition party's 'Bring Change' slogan signals its intentions to reverse the progress made by his party's government in Delhi. Kejriwal accused the BJP of having made its motives clear.
BJP's Rebuttal to Kejriwal's Accusations
BJP quickly countered Kejriwal's accusations. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva dismissed Kejriwal's statements as baseless, asserting that the new slogan has gained massive popularity among the public and has unsettled Kejriwal. Sachdeva clarified that there is no intention to halt ongoing public service schemes like free electricity, water, and pink tickets in Delhi. He further alleged that Kejriwal's government is mired in corruption, prompting their fear of BJP's evolving stance. He mentioned that Delhi's citizens, particularly the youth and women, are actively welcoming BJP's slogan.
The battle for Delhi's 70-member legislative assembly elections is slated for February next year. The BJP has been out of power in Delhi since 1998 and is making every possible effort to unseat the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party and reclaim authority.
