A fierce clash between inmates at Sangrur Jail, Punjab, turned fatal, leaving two deceased and others with grave injuries. Officials, including the DIG of Jail and Sangrur Police, are investigating, stressing that strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the brawl.

According to reports, after the evening prisoner headcount at 7 pm, tensions escalated when 10 inmates from one barrack attacked four from another. The dispute is believed to have stemmed from existing enmities, with most involved already charged under Section 302.

On receiving alerts of the scuffle, the jail's medical team sent the four inmates to Sangrur's government hospital. Upon arrival, two were already deceased, while the remaining suffered critical injuries, necessitating a transfer to Rajendra Hospital in Patiala.

Dr. Karandeep Kahel from the hospital revealed that two inmates, Harsh and Dharmendra, were brought in deceased, while Gagandeep Singh and Mohammad Shahbaz were in a critical state and were immediately referred to Patiala.
