Congress Candidates List: Congress has released the second list of six candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. This list includes the name of state party president, Tariq Hameed Karra, who will contest from Central Shalteng. Earlier, the party had released the first list of nine candidates.

Congress has published the second list featuring six candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The party has fielded its state president, Tariq Hameed Karra, from the Central Shalteng constituency in Srinagar. Additionally, Bhupinder Jamwal has been nominated from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.

Mumtaz Khan from Reasi, Iftikhar Ahmed from Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Khan from Thanamandi, and Mohammad Shahnawaz Chaudhary from Surankote have also been included as candidates.

First Candidate List Announced

Earlier, Congress released their first list on August 29. The nominees were Surinder Singh Channi (Tral), Amanullah Mantoo (Devsar), Nadeem Sharif (Bhaderwah), Sheikh Riyaz (Doda), Peerzada Mohammad Syed (Anantnag), Sheikh Zafurullah (Inderwal), and Dr. Pradeep Kumar Bhagat (West Doda).

Congress and NC Share Seats: Congress to Contest on 32 Seats in Jammu & Kashmir, NC on 51 Seats

It should be noted that Congress and National Conference (NC) have formed an alliance for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Out of the total 90 seats, Congress will contest on 32 seats, while NC will field candidates on 51 seats. Additionally, a friendly contest will take place on five remaining seats, which include Banihal, Doda, Bhaderwah, Nagrota, and Sopore.

Elections to be Held in Three Phases

Assembly elections are set to take place in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in 10 years. Following the abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir was reconstituted as a Union Territory. This will be the first election since then, and voting will be conducted in three phases. Voters will cast their ballots on September 18, September 25, and October 1 for the 90 constituencies. The results will be announced on October 8.
