The dates for the Haryana elections have been announced, and all political parties are gearing up with full enthusiasm. On one hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party is asserting its claim to victory once again, whereas, on the other, the Congress is striving for a comeback in the state. Meanwhile, leaders from every party seem eager to secure a ticket. In the midst of this, the Congress has made a significant decision. The Congress has clarified that no ticket will be given to any MP in the Haryana elections. A statement has also emerged regarding the tickets for current MLAs.

During this time, Babaria mentioned that no current Congress MPs would be given tickets for the Assembly elections. If there is an urgent need, they must seek permission from party president Kharge. Sitting MLAs will lose their tickets if there is anti-incumbency against them.

A Setback for MPs Wishing to Contest Elections

This decision not to give tickets to MPs has come as a blow to senior leaders like Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala, and Deepender Hooda. They will be asked to focus on campaigning rather than contesting the elections. According to experts, several MPs were staking their claims in this Assembly election. However, the decision from the party has dealt a big blow to them.

Single-Phase Voting in Haryana

Voting for the 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly will take place in a single phase. Voting will be held on 1st October on all 90 seats of Haryana and the election results will be announced on 4th October after the counting. The term of the Haryana Assembly is set to end on 3rd November 2024. The last Assembly election was held in October 2019. After the election, a coalition formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Jannayak Janata Party created the state government. BJP has 40 seats, Congress has 31, and Independents/others hold 19 seats.
