In the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a strong aim at the Samajwadi Party. After Mata Prasad Pande was made the Leader of Opposition, he had posed a question to CM Yogi regarding crimes against women. In response, CM Yogi first congratulated him and then took a dig at Akhilesh Yadav and Shivpal Yadav, saying that the 'Uncle' always ends up fooled.
CM Yogi said, "I congratulate you on your selection. It’s another matter that you have indeed fooled Uncle. The poor uncle always ends up like this. It’s his fate because the nephew is always apprehensive, but you are a senior member of the house. I have respect for you."
Shivpal Responds in Assembly
Responding to CM Yogi, Shivpal Yadav said, "We were not fooled. We used to sit at the back, then moved next to the seat of the Leader of Opposition, so we weren’t fooled. It’s you who fooled us. We remained in contact with you for three years, so you fooled us. In the 2027 elections, we’ll be sitting there, and the Deputy CM will be the one fooled."
CM Lists Crime Statistics Against Women
Replying to a question from the Leader of Opposition, CM Yogi said, "Issues of women's safety are not just external but internal and external. Comparing efforts made by the government to curb these issues, incidents of dowry have dropped by 17.5% in 2023-24 compared to 2016. Rape cases have decreased by 25.30% from 2016-17 to 2023-24.
From 2017 to 2024, the government’s expedited prosecution in cases of sexual abuse against women and minors has resulted in 24,402 convictions. Under the POCSO Act, 9,875 cases have seen convictions from 2017 to 2024.
21 Convicts Sentenced to Death in Two Years

This includes 21 sentenced to death, 1,713 to life imprisonment, 4,653 to more than 10 years in prison, and 10,331 to less than 10 years in prison. Among other efforts, the Investigation Tracking System for crimes was activated on the portal in 2018.
